It is a pleasure to fill you in on the results from Winchester’s latest performance at the New Balance Track in Boston this past Monday, February 2nd. Both teams showed incredible grit against a highly competitive field, with the girls’ team delivering an outstanding performance to finish 4th overall with 42 points. The boys’ team also put up a strong showing in a deep field, securing 7th place overall with a total of 30 points.

The meet was highlighted by several remarkable individual efforts and new qualifications for the upcoming postseason. Julia Ramsey had a historic day, placing 1st overall in the 600m. Her time of 1:38.19 not only qualified her for the Massachusetts Division 2 meet but also set a new school record. Jasper Carswell also earned a podium spot with a 3rd place finish in the 55m Hurdles in 7.98 seconds and a 5th place finish in the long jump with a mark of 20 '9". In the 1000m, Chloe Walker and Solana Murphy dominated the heat, placing 3rd and 4th respectively to both qualify for the Division 2 meet.

Success continued across the field and sprint events as Leo Volchuck showcased his versatility by placing 6th in the 55m dash and 7th in the shot put. Destin Liu and Madison VonMerring both secured 5th-place finishes in the high jump and long jump, respectively, while Eva Bodo took 8th in the shot put. On the track, Tyler Bernstein and Maddy Baynes both earned 8th place finishes in their 2-mile races, Noah Damaske took 7th in the 1000m, Bridget Higgins placed 6th in the 600m, and Seren Grassi finished 8th in the 300m.
Our relay teams also rose to the occasion, with three squads punching their tickets to the state meet. The girls 4x400 relay, consisting of Chloe Walker, Solana Murphy, Bridget Higgins, and Julia Ramsey, took a silver medal with a 2nd place finish. The boys 4x400 team of Callum K, Adel H, Matt B, and Noah D followed suit with a 4th place finish, and the boys 4x200 team of Noah H, Fin H, Parker C, and Leo V placed 5th. Additionally, the girls 4x200 team of Ella M, Audrey H, Noor H, and Seren G delivered a solid 6th place finish.
