The Winchester varsity girls’ field hockey team delivered a commanding performance this week, defeating Arlington 6–0 in one of their most decisive victories over their rival in recent memory. Known for their physical style of play, Arlington struggled to keep pace with Winchester’s relentless attack and disciplined defense.

Freshman-mid-turned-Sophomore-forward Ellie Drake was a standout, scoring two goals and adding an assist. After making the switch from midfield this season, Drake has quickly established herself as a scoring threat, consistently finding the back of the net.

Winchester’s depth was on full display, with scoring contributions from across the roster. Sam Gal capitalized on a corner opportunity, while Sloane McCarthy wowed the crowd by knocking the ball out of the air and driving it into the cage. Joyce Chen added her first career goal, and Julia Fredey was credited with the sixth tally to seal the win.

Defensively, goalkeeper Isabella Bogovich was a steady presence, earning her second shutout of the season and keeping Arlington off the board despite their aggressive play.

With this victory, Winchester not only extends its strong start to the season but also celebrates one of its largest margins of victory against Arlington in years.
