The Red & Black’s remarkable postseason run came to an end on Friday, as Winchester fell 49–0 to an exceptionally strong Catholic Memorial squad in the MIAA Division 2 State Semifinals. It was a difficult day on the field, but one that doesn’t overshadow the historic season Winchester put together.

From the opening whistle, it was clear Catholic Memorial was one of the most dominant teams in the state — and arguably the region. CM’s roster was stacked with Division I recruits across multiple positions, and their size and speed were unlike anything Winchester had faced this year. Their offensive drive efficiency was staggering, with several possessions ending in touchdowns in just two or three plays, fueled by explosive runs and deep passes.

Winchester fought with everything they had, but adversity struck early and often. The Red & Black lost several key players to injury throughout the game, including Bryan Harrison, Ryan Martin, and star running back Gianni Depremio, limiting their ability to sustain drives or slow CM’s momentum. As injuries piled up, Winchester’s depth was tested against one of the deepest and most physical rosters in the state.

Despite the 49–0 final, the Red & Black continued to compete to the last whistle — showing the resilience, unity, and toughness that defined their entire season.

And that season? Nothing short of unparalleled.

Winchester reached the State Final Four, marking their deepest postseason run in many years. They defeated elite programs, delivered clutch performances in pressure moments, and showcased one of the most exciting and dynamic squads the town has seen in a long time. Seniors stepped up as leaders, underclassmen emerged as major contributors, and the coaching staff consistently put the team in position to succeed.

The loss to Catholic Memorial, a powerhouse and perennial title contender, does not diminish what this Winchester team accomplished. If anything, it highlights just how far the program has come — and how bright the future looks.

In a season filled with statement wins, playoff heroics, and unforgettable moments, the Red & Black walk away with pride, cementing their legacy as one of the most successful Winchester teams in recent history.
